Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati
Arrive in Guwahati, the gateway to the North East. Visit the famous Kamakhya Temple, one of the holiest temples dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya. Explore the local attractions, including the Umananda Temple, situated on Peacock Island in the Brahmaputra River, and take a peaceful evening cruise on the river.
Day 2: Guwahati to Kaziranga National Park
Drive to Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its population of one-horned rhinoceroses. Check into your hotel and relax. In the evening, enjoy an elephant safari or a jeep safari to spot wildlife such as rhinos, tigers, and elephants.
Day 3: Kaziranga Safari & Exploration
Start your day early with a jeep safari in the park, followed by a visit to the Kaziranga Orchid Park to learn about the region's biodiversity. Later, explore the nearby tea gardens and the Kaziranga National Orchid and Biodiversity Park.
Day 4: Kaziranga to Shillong
Leave for Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya, known as the “Scotland of the East.” Visit the Shillong Peak for panoramic views of the city and the surrounding hills. Explore the beautiful Ward's Lake and the Don Bosco Museum. In the evening, stroll around the local markets.
Day 5: Shillong to Cherrapunji
Drive to Cherrapunji, famous for its waterfalls and living root bridges. Visit Nohkalikai Falls, the tallest waterfall in India, and the Mawsmai Cave. Trek to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge, a unique natural wonder. Spend the night in Cherrapunji.
Day 6: Cherrapunji to Mawlynnong and Dawki
Head to Mawlynnong, known as Asia’s cleanest village. Visit the Mawlynnong Living Root Bridge and explore the village. Later, drive to Dawki, famous for the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Take a boat ride to witness the transparency of the river and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
Day 7: Dawki to Jowai
Drive to Jowai, a picturesque town in Meghalaya. Visit the Nartiang Monoliths, a cluster of ancient megalithic monuments. Explore the Krang Suri Waterfall, a stunning waterfall surrounded by lush greenery, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the area.
Day 8: Jowai to Shillong
Return to Shillong for more sightseeing. Visit the Elephant Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Meghalaya, and take a scenic drive to Laitlum Canyons, offering stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
Day 9: Departure from Shillong
Spend your last morning in Shillong exploring local markets or relaxing in the serene environment. Depending on your departure time, transfer to Guwahati for your onward journey.
